Hello, my name is Matthew Scott Mauney and I would like to welcome you to my personal webpage. I am a graduate of Georgia Southern University with a degree in journalism. In addition to my B.S. in journalism, I earned a double minor in broadcasting and public relations. I currently work as the Sports Editor for The Paper of Hoschton, Braselton, Chateau Elan and Jefferson. I write articles, columns and features for the community driven weekly paper as well as for our sister paper, The Gainesville Times – a large metropolitan daily – and gainesvilletimes.com. I have five plus years of experience as a writer, editor, photographer, designer and manager. I also have a vast amount of knowledge with technology and am fully qualified to expand a publications online presence. For the past several years, I have written, edited and uploaded stories on the web. I have experience working with social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook. In the fall of 2011, I had a large hand in the development of ClickThePaper.com, the first full-functioning news site for The Paper of Hoschton, Braselton, Chateau Elan and Jefferson. I currently serve as the webmaster of that site and oversee daily functions. In addition to my knowledge of online media practices, I am an experienced designer, having worked with InDesign and PhotoShop for over four years.

Prior to my current roles, I worked for the student media program at GSU for over four years and have held numerous positions and titles in that time. I spent my final year as an undergraduate as both the Special Assignments Editor and the Managing Editor of the Southern Reflector Student Magazine. In addition to my work with GSU Student Media, I have held internships and freelance positions for several publications. I held an internship with Inside Pitch Magazine and Scout.com, where I worked as an independent scout for the Single-A Savannah Sand Gnats baseball team and wrote in-depth player profiles and critiques for Inside Pitch, an independent scouting magazine for the New York Mets, as well as InsidepitchMagazine.com. From 2008 to 2010, I worked as a freelance writer and reporter for Effingham Now/Savannah Morning News, specializing in coverage of prep sports in Effingham County and the greater Savannah area.

For the 2008-09 school year, I worked as the Editor-in-Chief of www.gadaily.com, the official student media website of GSU. As the Editor-in-Chief of GAdaily.com, I helped design pages, uploaded and edited content and hosted, produced and directed The Weekly Swarm video podcast – which was updated on a weekly basis.

I would like to personally thank you for taking time to visit my site and I hope you take a look at all of the pages within this site. I invite you to take a look at my recent published work and my most up-to-date resume.

Thank you again for your time and I would be happy to hear from you.
